1976 Corvette Stingray
The most iconic of of all American Cars, yes you guess it right it’s Corvette Stingray, thanks to master minded innovative design, the power and least not last the great muscle car looks. The Corvette C3 was patterned after the Mako Shark II designed by Larry Shinoda. The Corvette enthusiasts among the designers, engineers, and executives at Chevy have always pushed to make special Corvettes. Some of these Corvettes are limited editions, some of them are unique or nearly unique, some are the first year or last year of a given feature, some are just the biggest, baddest, fastest Corvettes in history. They’re all special and one of this special beauty from 1976 is listed on Austree Classified for a sale. The Corvette Stingray lover call it The Last Sharks – All engines in this Corvette Stingray were 350 cubic inches, with the base L-48 engine rated at 180 horsepower and the upgrade L-84 engine rated at 210 horsepower. Transmission options included a 4-speed manual or 3-speed automatic. 1976 was the last year for “Stingray” emblems on the side of the car, being replaced with the Corvette crossed flags in 1977. 1977 was the last year of the “shark” styling with the small rear window. This fact has not made the 1976-1977 Corvettes any more beloved among collectors or enthusiasts, mostly because of the car’s anemic mid-70s horsepower ratings. Leather seats were standard for the first time in 1977, with a striped cloth insert option. Among today’s collectors and historians, there remains some disagreement as to whether or not similarly styled Corvettes made past 1976 should really be called Stingrays, but the Stingray name continued (and still continues) to be used by many enthusiasts, and even dealers and sellers, to designate same-style Corvettes until 1982.
